Kevin having spent time working in the voluntary sector is passionate about making a difference and is in developing a website which will support and assist charities, cic’s, social enterprises and organisations who have an annual income below £5000 who are not able to registers with Charity Commission but are eligible to claim ‘gift aid’. Kevin’s site (Involved) will compliment not compete with traditional support.
In addition to this Kevin has been involved with voluntary activities for over ten years and is currently a trustee for Thumbprint, a registered charity that enables adults with learning disabilities to set up and run their own projects.
Kevin is a regular speaker at the Lancaster District CVS who have almost 400 members, the vast majority are local and have very small annual incomes.
Why should Kevin be recognised for a "Lived it" Award?
I have known Kevin for the past 14 months and I have been so impressed with his energy and commitment to making a difference. He also takes time to develop new skills in order to have a greater impact on the support and energy he puts into this sector.
Some evidence in support of this nomination
Kevin has an enormous amount of passion and energy to help and support others and I feel he is more than worthy of this nomination.
Kevin is not only talking about making a difference he is actually working hard to make this happen and attends a variety of sessions to promote the good causes that he is supporting.
In addition to Kevin’s work developing ‘Involved’, he is also an active member of a group in the process of raising funds to establish a ‘dry bar’ in order to provide an alternative venue to those who find that drink is not for them but who want and need to socialise with others in the area. This work is long and intensive but he manages to fit it in with everything else he is doing. Kevin is happy to help and support anyone he can.
Recently when he was part of a team taking part in a business competition he took the time to support and encourage other members of the group when they were struggling.
